I’ve been curious about the use of paintbrushes as makeup brushes ever since I saw one of Lisa Eldridge’s Youtube videos, where she was pinpoint concealing with a tiny paintbrush. Logical, right, because artists must need tiny paintbrushes for detailed works of art. But then, really what’s the difference between painting a canvas or a face? I decided to test how far I could push the use of paintbrushes as makeup brushes, by doing half a face of makeup with each different set of brushes, and seeing if I (or you guys) could tell the difference. First, I visited a local art supplies shop in Leicester, Gadsby’s Arts, to choose a few brushes. I was amazed to see how much cheaper they were than makeup brushes. They had a promotion running, where you could pick any five paintbrushes by the brand Royal and Langnickel for £13. I was blown away, some of my… View Post

When I was invited to have a complimentary* haircut at the new RUSH hair salon in Leicester, two things crossed my mind. Firstly, I was chuffed that my blog had been noticed (it’s still a baby) and secondly, I began to get super excited. I’d been thinking of going shorter with my hair for a while, but never really been brave enough to go for it. This was just the push I needed! You can see that it looks so much healthier on the right! To get it to this beautiful state, the lovely Creative Director, Yiannis, chatted to me about what kind of cut I’d like, to which I took the plunge and suggested he took about 3 or 4 inches off. He was so friendly and helpful and said we could always start with a couple of inches and see how I felt! He then suggested a treatment… View Post

We all know by now that I’m obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury. I use her Light Wonder Foundation every day (Fair 1 is currently sold out everywhere), and raved on about how amazing her Matte Revolution lipsticks are. I always have absolute faith in her products and her Luxury Palette Colour Coded Eyeshadows in The Golden Goddess is no exception! This palette has summer written all over it (yes I know it snowed yesterday – c’mon England it’s bloody April), I adore all four different shades of goldy browns. The best thing about this palette aside from the beautiful colours is that it’s so compact and lightweight. It fits in my smaller makeup bag that I take to uni with me which is a total bonus, it beats having to try and cram my Naked Palette into it! The ‘Prime’ shade is a gorgeous light yellow toned gold, which I have to be honest,… View Post

“Kezia, I’m in Sephora and I’ve got five minutes, tell me what you want NOW”… …are the words that greeted me at 9 in the morning when my boyfriend rang me from Dubai (lucky bastard). Safe to say I panicked and cursed him for not giving me prior notice, but the first thing that I managed to think of was Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. I managed to pick two colours from the Sephora website, Berlin and Double Dare. Choosing lipstick colours online is always tricky, that little square of colour never looks the same in real life! I was so happy when I tried them and they both suited me! This is my first encounter with liquid lipsticks and I have to say, I’m fairly impressed. APPLICATION Berlin and Double Dare apply pretty evenly, although the little wand comes out with a little too much product on it so… View Post

Matte lipsticks are having a bit of a moment recently. MAC have recently brought out their Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour lipsticks and Kylie’s Matte Lip Kits are sold out everywhere. However, for those of you who don’t want to spend crazy amounts on shipping or aren’t totally sold on the whole liquid lipstick thing, I’ve found the perfect alternative. I adore pinky/brown colours (see my recent blog post on my favourite pinks) and this MAC lipstick in Twig is the most gorgeous brown pinky matte. Although it says that it has a satin finish, in reality it dries with a beautiful matte finish. I paired this lip colour with an easy deep golden smokey eye, I’ve been wearing this look non-stop this month! Base To get a really flawless base I used Charlotte Tilbury’s Light Wonder Foundation all over my face and buffed it in well. As per I then… View Post
